Barrus, Angela, PhD
Angela Barrus is a Principal Research Associate in Pearson’s Higher Education Division.
Angela has over eighteen years of experience in instructional design and software development project management and six years of experience in educational research. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Technology from Arizona State University in May 2013 under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Atkinson during her graduate work with the ANGLE research lab. Her doctoral thesis developed a pilot version of a web-based, self-regulated learning system and evaluated its effectiveness when coupled with a web-based intelligent tutoring system.
Angela recently completed a postdoctoral assistantship in the Individualizing Student Instruction Lab in the Learning Sciences Institute at Arizona State University where she worked with Dr. Carol Connor to assist in taking to scale for use in schools a teacher-focused, web-based, algorithm-driven system to improve reading interventions and outcomes for elementary school students in Arizona and Pennsylvania.
Angela has thirteen amazing nieces and nephews. In her recreational time she enjoys trying new foods, swimming, Zumba fitness, and reading voraciously.
